COST 723 Splinter Meeting, EGS-AGU-EUG Joint Assembly, Nice, April 8, 2003 Minutes 1. It was discussed, how COST 723 should react to the general COST moratorium. In particular, the date of October 6-8 for the Opening Workshop has become uncertain due to the prolongation of the moratorium until September. S. Buehler explained the action taken jointly by the MC Chairs and handed out a draft of an MC Chair joint letter. 2. It was decided to shift the Opening Workshop to March 11-13, 2004. J. Langen said that the availability of the facilities should be no problem in this time period. K. Kourtidis suggested that as an alternative the Workshop could also be held in parallel to the Quadrenial Ozone Symposium in June 2004 in Greece. It was decided to keep this in mind as a backup plan, but to continue to aim at a Workshop at ESTEC as the preferred option. 3. It was confirmed that the workshop should last for 3 days, with 2 days of open presentation, and 1 day of work within the WGs, followed by a joint session. In order to make best use of ETIX tickets, Thu, Fri, Sat would be the preferred days, however, it is unclear if meetings on Saturday are possible at ESTEC. --> AI to J. Langen to find out. 4. The WG Chairs are responsible to put together a workshop program for their WG, by collecting contribution from the WG members, and by approaching experts that are not (yet) WG members, but could give a desirable contribution. 5. We will wait with the public announcement of the workshop until the general COST situation has become more clear. 6. It was decided that the COST 723 website (http://www.cost723.org/) should be filled with more content, in particular: a) Members should send links that they want to appear on the page to sbuehler@uni-bremen.de. b) EGS contributions of COST 723 members should be collected on the website. --> AI to S. Buehler to implement. Minutes written by S. Buehler, 17.04.2003.
