(b) Analysis chain for Odin-SMR limb measurements. (c) Water vapor and water vapor isotope data retrieved from Odin/SMR measurements (public release pending). Relationship to MoU Objectives: 1. To help to address and coordinate the development of new measurement techniques that are particularly suited for the UTLS region (contribution a). 2. To provide a quality-controlled UT/LS water vapor dataset for the use of the scientific community (contributions b and c). 3. To assess the state of the UTLS and to understand the relevant processes, e.g. strat-trop exchange mechanisms (contribution c). Relationship to scientific program: The contributions are mainly related to part C-1 "Observations" of the scientific program. Deliverables: Main elements (3) represents deliverables (public data release pending). Indicative timetable: Year 1-4 Odin/SMR data analysis and validation Year 3-4 Instrument studies for advanced satellite sensors First contribution has to be carried out continuously, as new data become available. Manpower: 1 research scientist. Assurance of availability of resources: Odin/SMR measurements are already available and on-going. Public release depends on quality assessment (validation) and has to be awaited.
